I have been teaching English as a second language since 2016. I started teaching English as a hobby when I made short travels to South America. Before coming into this profession, I was a freelance creative designer, photography stylist, and prop maker for over ten years. And I gradually lost interest because I no longer wanted to contribute towards consumerism. So I officially left the industry in 2018 and became a professional ESL teacher.

My regular students will tell you how passionate I am about helping people to learn English as a second language. It gives me joy to see their progression and their growing confidence in using English to express themselves.

One trait that makes me different from other teachers is my personal experience. I am a British-born Chinese, raised in the east southern suburbs of England and the city of London. I grew up in an environment where my parents struggled to communicate in English. Nevertheless, this bi-lingual upbringing explains my openness and friendliness. And my creative background gives me the advantage of personalising lesson material to the learners’ level and requirements.

And my own journey to learning Spanish has given me the knowledge to aid challenges with creativity and holistic methods. With this, learners feel at ease because not only are they learning with a big-hearted teacher but also with a trustworthy friend.
